I have training in three of the major methodologies for teaching music to young children: Kodaly, Orff Schulwerk, and Suzuki. All of these approaches focus on internalizing the language of music through rhythm, singing, movement, and games with gradual application to an instrument, with the guitar being our instrument of choice. Music is learned like a language with a focus on sound and experience before reading and intellectual understanding. Some level of parental involvement is necessary for this age group.
